About Gail: Gail began her service with the City of Salem in December 2004 and the Salem-Washington County Senior Center opened to the public in January of 2005. Gail is responsible for planning all programs for the center and she strives to promote good, clean fun for the citizens in our community. She feels that our seniors have worked hard all their lives and they deserve a place to come and enjoy each other’s company, play games, eat and to join in all the festivities. She wants everyone, from all walks of life, to feel welcome at the center.

Gail has been a volunteer in the community for a number of years and on numerous projects. She was in charge of the Community Fellowship Dinners from 1994 to 2006. This was a weekly dinner on Wednesday evening for anyone who needed a meal and/or fellowship. Gail also volunteered and was a board member of the Washington County Food Bank for a period of 14 years. She also runs a relay center in Salem for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse. Gail is in charge of bell ringing for the Salvation Army benefitting Washington County’s residents. She is an active member in her church, First Christian Church of Salem, Indiana, and serves as an elder there.

Gail was named Citizen of the Year in 2000 and was given the Woman Philanthropist Award from the Washington County Community Foundation in 2008. Gail truly enjoys people and feels really blessed to be serving all the citizens of Salem and Washington County.
