Breaking the Chains of Addiction

on .

Chains of AddictionThe Washington County Prevent Child Abuse Council and Washington County Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Coalition along with the Salem Parks and Recreation Department and Salem Public Library, want to thank everyone involved in helping make the Kids' Day at the Fair event a success. As the Prevent Child Abuse Council motto says:  Nobody can do everything.  Everyone can do something.  Together we can do anything!

On July 25 @ 5:30pm, the kids will break the chains of addiction at Myers Pool.  This is the end of summer event for the Salem Public Library.  We are going to stretch the chains across the pool, make a promise to stay away from tobacco, alcohol, and drugs and let the kids break the chains as they jump into the water.

Prevent Child Abuse Indiana has identified 5 risk factors for child abuse.  They are Substance Abuse, Domestic Violence, Lack of Parenting Skills, Poverty and Isolation.

This event is part of a larger goal with Prevent Child Abuse Council, Salem Public Library and Salem Park and Rec. and WSLM to provide free events all summer.
