The fourth annual Seasonings for SOAR! Chili Cook-off to benefit Washington County SOAR!, will be held Saturday, March 9th at the American Legion Bingo Hall from 4-7pm.
Chili aficionados will enjoy the many varieties of chili offered throughout the evening, along with peanut butter sandwiches, drinks, dessert, and all the fixings. Tickets will be available at the door and cost $5 for adults, $3 for children.
The event will also include children activities and a cake walk. Prizes will be awarded to the winning chefs. First, second and third prize for overall chili will be awarded by a panel of secret judges. People’s Choice Awards will be judged by the chili consumers. Each team will be given a 6 foot table area that will be available for decoration. Decorations are not required, but encouraged. Prizes for first, second and third best decorated booth will be awarded. “Last year people had so much supporting their favorite chili chef. We hope to have even more people join us this year for some great food and fun evening,” Debbie Mildenburger, Seasonings Coordinator stated.
There is no registration fee to enter the cook-off. Teams should prepare three crock pots full of his/her famous chili. Teams will also need an extension cord and power strip to ensure the chili stay hot during the cook-off.
SOAR! is also looking for table sponsors for the event. There are several levels of sponsorship to consider. “Spicy” is $100 or more, “Hot” is $250 or more, “Jalapeno” is $500 or more and, “Habanero” is $2500 or more. Sponsors will receive table signage, recognition in the paper, website, Facebook, and SOAR’s bi-monthly Newsletter.
