Dozens of people showed up to fill out job applications for Cobblestone, the new hotel being built on State Road 56 East, at City Hall Monday morning. Mayor David Bower said there are currently 12 jobs to be filled at the hotel.
He said the turnout of applicants shows how many people are looking for jobs in our community, no matter what they are or what they pay.
There are well-qualified people who are looking for minimum wage jobs so that they don’t have to drive out of town every day for work.
“With gas prices as high as they are, people are willing to make less on the hour so they don’t have to drive,” he said.
Bower is thrilled to be a part of bringing these jobs to Washington County and hopes more businesses will follow suit in the future.
