The Salem Parks and Recreation Department, “Opening Day at the Ball Park Celebration”, was held on Tuesday, April 28th, 2015. The event was held at Community Park in Salem.
The National Anthem was sung by Tanya Webb. Park Board member Dr. Jack Hedrick made the first pitch across home plate on the Major/Minor field, Jeff Williams on “Williams Field” Tee Ball (pictured on right) and Rookie, and the WSLM Weather Bird along with Becky White will throw out the first pitch on the Girl’s Softball Field.
League Directors this year are Rodney Brough Girl’s Softball, Boy’s Major and Minor league Ricky Lincks, and Tee Ball and Rookie leagues Tim Anderson. The many volunteer coaches, high school and middle school coaches along with team sponsors dedicated to this program help contribute to its success.
