Stage Performance of THE BUTLER DID IT

The Washington County Actors Community Theater (WCACT) will perform, THE BUTLER DID IT, by Tim Kelly. Charity Main and Jane Naugle are directing this stage production.

The story concerns wealthy but eccentric Miss Maple, who loves mysteries and mystery writers. She decides it would be fun to have a weekend at an island mansion off the coast of California with seven detective story authors and concoct a "mystery" for them to solve together.

An added twist is that the writers all must spend the entire weekend speaking and acting as the hero or heroine of their novels -- for example, if Agatha Christie had been invited, she might've pretended to be Miss Marple the whole time. The problem is, an actual murder takes place soon after everyone arrives.

Everyone spends the rest of the play stranded on the island, afraid for his or her life, trying to make sense out of the strange clues that surface. You'll soon notice that THE BUTLER DID IT is a spoof of the mystery genre, and there are many references to famous mystery writers and other plays sprinkled throughout.

Our cast includes Kelly McCormick, Chuck Hedrick, Beth Tomey, Wes Bledsoe, Brittney Reisert, Daniel Main, Mark Carter, Lydia Casey, Suzy Paul, and Rachel King.
