The Washington County Family YMCA is now accepting registrations for Spring Soccer through Saturday, March 22, 2014. The Spring Soccer League is for boys and girls ages 3 through 13 years old. Divisions of play will be 3 year olds, 4-5 year olds, 6-7 year olds, 8-9 year olds, and 10-13 year olds.
Our program's goal is for children to play soccer in a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude while instilling good sportsmanship. There are no tryouts, and everyone is guaranteed playing time. Children learn the fundamentals of soccer and, just as important the Y’s character development traits of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility.
Watch your child’s confidence kick in as they learn the game of soccer and build new skills. All divisions will practice during the week and have games at least once a week on Saturdays. Participants will get a t-shirt and gift for their participation. Equipment needed to play: shin guards (required), soccer cleats (recommended but not required).
Team drafts will be held Tuesday, April 8th, 2014. Coaches will contact parents about practices. The first games will be held on Saturday, April 12th - times will be announced at a later date.
The strength of Washington County YMCA Soccer depends on volunteer and parent participation. Please contact the Y if you are interested in being a volunteer coach or referee. The Y will be having a mandatory coaches meeting for all coaches, new or experienced. The meeting will be held at the YMCA on Saturday, April 5th at 11:00am.
The cost is $40 for members, $60 for non-members. Card, cash or checks are accepted; payable to the Washington County Family YMCA. A late registration fee of $10 will be applied to anyone signing up past the March 22nd deadline. Scholarships are available. Please stop by the Washington County Family YMCA for details.
