Salem’s Mayor, City Police Department, and Parks and Recreation Department, with help from the Washington County Prevent Child Abuse Council, and the Hoosier Hills PACT Domestic Violence Shelter have created the “Salem’s Safety Zone” program to encourage awareness that the Salem City Police Department doors are open 24 hours a day in case of emergencies of any kind.
Emphasis is placed on children and family safety, and designating a central location where citizens who have been battered or felt threatened can go for immediate protection.
The Salem City Police Department is located within the City’s Southeast Corner of the Public Square, and easily accessible to Salem residents.
